Having frequented Capestang on many an occasion, I have compiled a list of 10 things to do in this lovely little town. Capestang is pronounced Cap-ih-stang.
- Visit the awe-inspiring 14th century church of Etienne in the centre of the town square
- 2 Take a leisurely stroll along the famous Canal du Midi
- 3 Rent a canal boat for a lovely day’s cruising down the Canal du Midi
- 4 Eat at the restaurant situated on the Canal du Midi – excellent steak with Roquefort sauce or Magret de Canard.
- 5 Enjoy a Get 27 (pronounced jet) or a Stella Artois in one of the bars in the town centre.
- 6 Sit on the benches in the middle of the town centre and enjoy a cool or hot beverage with beautiful scenery.
- 7 Walk around the town centre and see all the quaint streets and beautiful foliage.
- 8 Guided visits to the village and the bell tower
Capestang is also home to a doctors surgery, 2 pharmacies, a tabac (newsagents with postcards and stamps), 2 supermarkets – Intermarche and Lidl, a couple of ATMs, a DIY store – Bricomarche, and various other shops and restaurants to make your stay easy and comfortable.
