I have always been fascinated by the way of life in Monaco, ever since I heard that you’re required to have 1 million pounds in your bank account before being able to move there! So when I got the chance to go there on a day trip, I was so pleased!
Monaco is just as beautiful as you can imagine. I’ve actually been there twice already, once when I was a young girl and once a couple of years ago. My family and I were staying in a campsite in Italy, and heard that there was a tour bus that would take us to Monaco for the evening, so of course, we booked our tickets and joined in the fun! The other time was on a road trip with my mum, we just couldn’t resist taking a little detour through Monaco!
Once you arrive in Monaco, you need to find a parking spot, because in all honesty, it’s a lot more interesting to walk around rather than drive. There are multiple parking garages at your disposal. Once parked, you can make your way down to the centre on foot. There are a lot of stairs and hills, so be sure to wear the correct footwear!
There’s so many great things to see in Monaco, I personally love going to the port. You get to see so many absolutely massive boats, all full of extremely rich people with butlers and jet skis! As you’re walking around the centre, you’ll definitely notice the cars. I’m talking really expensive James Bond type cars, they’re always so amazing to see! The hotels and restaurants are also great to look at, everything looks extremely pricey and clean.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying anything from the clothes shops there though, unless you want to fork out your entire savings! The shops are absolutely gorgeous and make you dream of being Victoria Beckham, but most of the shops are extremely pricey, like Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton etc.
When my family and I were there all together, we ended up parking up on the top of a hill in the evening and watching the port down below. And then, right before our eyes and ears, all of the boats started honking their horns. We had no idea why, but shortly after, fireworks started lighting up the sky! I’m sure it was some sort of holiday, but it was hands down the best firework display I’ve ever seen!
Yes, Monaco is very pricey, but you don’t have to spend money there to enjoy it. You can very easily go there and enjoy watching the extremely rich people pop in and out of Chanel, get into their Lamborghinis and then head off down to the port to spend the afternoon sunbathing on their yacht!
